Driving Test

Driving test applicants must be at least 16 years of age by the time of their test appointment.

TPST Driving Test

Third Party Skills Testing (TPST) locations are driving schools authorized by the TX DPS to administer the driving test. These locations will have shorter wait times.

DPS Driving Test

Taking the driving test with DPS will require you to make an appointment at least 60 days in advance. If you are in a rush to get your license you can get it done faster by going the TPST route.

  • Learners License

    This temporary restricted license is issued by the drivers license office upon completion of
    the Road Rules and Road Signs exam. This exam is taken at DPS or through an Adult Drivers Ed program.

  • ITYD Certificate

    This certificate is emailed to you after completing the online ITYD Course.

  • Vehicle Insurance

    Every insurance card is different. Please make sure insurance is active and not expired.
    Students name does not have to be on policy.
